A great guest house as you wish for on vacation. Cozy and clean. Fortunately, not in a modern style, but not overloaded either. Nice ambience. The beer garden is a dream. The service is warm and friendly. No rush even though it was full. Anyone who complains about the waiting time should work a day in a kitchen. We used the waiting time with a cool drink, enjoying the beer garden and having a good chat. If you get there and want the food on the table within 10 minutes, you can also go to the snack bar. I prefer good ingredients, well prepared. And if you are already stressful when you go out to eat and look at the clock, see above ..... you go to the snack bar and get a quick nonsense on your hand. And the grumbling because no employee is sitting at the counter waiting for customers and is horrified because everyone can steal everything ...... Perhaps the employee in the beer garden was stacking the chairs, or preparing the tables or just going to the toilet? In such a small inn, only a few staff work by the hour. If there are no guests then you have to use the time .. enough to do. If you complain that everything can be stolen ..... so that you think so, shows that you have little trust or have had very bad experiences. If you move into a guest room, you can also move freely in the inn. You can't lock the guests up and lock things up every day. A basis of trust is necessary because otherwise you would not be able to run a pension at all. We spent a lot of holidays in the mountains. In no pension was there always someone at the reception. What you could do would be to attach a radio bell that you can hear in the beer garden or in the kitchen and a sign saying I'll be right back. The inn is highly recommended, whether only for lunch or as a permanent address on vacation. We have already stayed in a holiday apartment and then went to eat in the restaurant every day. To the whole team ... stay healthy and go your own way! Accept criticism and change what can be changed. Ignore the notorious complainers and don't let these words get too close to you.

Perfect hotel to go to europa parc, 20 / 30min no more, accessible late the same evening to collect the key. The charm of the old to the German, rather old decor, we are in another time but nice, very clean !! Towels, tv (nothing in French) but we didn't come for that Responsive person, boss speaks a little English, very kind and helpful. Perfect breakfast (tell us the day before), brunch style with very good products! Fresh and generous for only 20 euros for two, perfect value for money, the restaurant has its old style but once again clean and not in its original state, regional cuisine. Outside of the nice restaurant in complete privacy, quiet. I recommend, must like the style but for a reasonable price for the area. Just watch out for the church bell if you sleep with the window open lol.

During our stay in Zell am Harmersbach, we became aware of a TV report about the Gasthof Engel in Lahr. I drove there especially from our hotel to eat. But neither in the beer garden nor in the hotel lobby was there anyone from whom we could have ordered something to eat or drink. Nobody heard even after repeated calls. We could have taken everything in the lobby, from room keys. No one to be seen anywhere. Then you don't have to complain on TV. It's a shame for the beautiful inn, but experts should be in there!

Nice location with only local guests. Only we had to wait quite a long time for the food. Vegetarian almond balls innovative and highly recommended.

Wonderful cool beer garden. Warm welcome, nice, clean rooms. Quiet location, despite the proximity to the Europapark. I was very pleased. The breakfast is very recommendable. Again, the service was very attentive. On my next visit to Europapark, I will definitely stay here again. Good price !

Authentic local restaurant with really tasty food.

The food I ordered was only partially edible. The clean liver was good, side dish now edible. Brad potatoes were 80% Schwaz. Bacon cubes and onions burned. Service, did not enter the complaint. That's why only two stars

Very quaint little place with extremely friendly service. Food was delicious and we are very excited to come back! Just a couple minutes drive out of Lahr and very worth it. They speak good English as well.

We have been visiting the black forest and Europa Park and it couldn't be a better location. The workers and super friendly and the homemade food was just delicious. We will come back for sure in christmas to visit the area in the winter. Danke!

This is a brilliant restaurant, very authentic German food and atmosphere. The service was excellent and the owner was very friendly. I have tried many things from the menu during my stay, and everything was really impressive. They cook very well. The rooms are comfortable with a very nice traditional atmosphere. I will definitely come back to stay and eat more.
